This is also commonly known as Islamic Calligraphy. This calligraphy has had a very important role in Islamic Culture. This calligraphy was used to reproduce and preserve the Qur'an which is very important to the Islamic Culture.

Kufic Script
Kufic Script
This original form of Arabic Calligraphy. It is focused on horizontal motions and geometric patterns. It also goes over letters and occasionally with a contrasting red ink. It is very popular in ornamental work and stone carvings. It is typically used for decoration.


Naskh Script
Naskh Script

In the 10th century it replaced the Kufic script, it is a type of cursive writing it uses thin lines which make it more legible. Today it is the basis for most Arabic print scripts.
